More men are requesting treatment to improve their appearance than ever before. Cosmetic procedures for men include a variety of surgical and nonsurgical treatments. These procedures are designed to reverse the signs of aging, improve facial proportions, create a more masculine chest, slim and contour the body, or other aesthetic changes.
What should you expect with cosmetic procedures for men?
If you opt to undergo a cosmetic procedure after your initial consultation, Dr. Balinger will let you know what to expect. Most plastic surgery procedures involve three basic steps:
- Anesthesia: The type of anesthesia will depend on the procedure you are undergoing. Some procedures are performed with local anesthetic only. For others, you may have intravenous sedation and local anesthesia. For some procedures, general anesthesia is required.
- Incision: Most plastic surgery procedures require incisions through which the treatment area is addressed. In our practice, surgical incisions are carefully placed to minimize visible scarring.
- Closure: When treatment is complete, the surgeon closes the incision and a bandage or dressing is applied.
