Every breast reduction procedure performed by Dr. Balinger is 100 percent customized. Several incision patterns could be used based on the reduction you desire and the current condition of your breasts. The most commonly used incision pattern is termed an “anchor” incision due to the shape. An incision is made around the areolas, vertically down the lower center of the breast, and along the natural breast crease. In some cases, fewer incisions are needed, called a “lollipop” incision, that does not involve the incision in the breast crease.
The procedure is performed with general anesthesia, and you will not experience any pain while your breasts are being reshaped. The procedure generally requires several hours to complete and typically involves relocating the nipple structure to be centered on the newly reshaped breast mound. Once you become alert after surgery, your breasts will be protected with bandages and a compression bra. You are free to return home, with the help of another adult, to rest and recover in the comfort of your own home.
